Applications
For mechanical higly stressed sealed joints

  • very high gasket pressure of up to 400 N/mm2
  • very high internal pressures of up to 250 bar.

For gaskets meeting increased demands on operational reliability and sealablity, notably:

  • bursting safety, fire safety
  • hazardous service media such as inflammable gases and media listed under the German Clean Air Regulations, class 1.

For gaskets in tongue-and-groove flanges meeting DIN and ANSI standards

  • recommended as one-layer gaskets up to 1000 mm outside diameter; exceeding 1000 mm diameter as two-layer structures in segments
  • it is recommended that the bolts be tightened up to the permitted limit.

Examples of Applications
Gaskets for

  • chemical pipework and equipment with hot and/or corrosive media
  • steam pipework in power stations
  • heat transfer oil and heating facilities
  • inspection glasses, pumps, fittings and vessels
  • existing plants (after extended service).

Properties
High mechanical strength, e.g.

  • very high compressive strength
  • high bursting safety
  • high rigidity
  • Long-term stability of compressibility and recovery over a wide temperature range.
  • No measurable cold or warm flow characteristics up to maximum permissible compressive stress

Ease of handling, e.g.

  • good resistance to buckling
  • good scratch resistance
  • antistick finish

Suitability for use at temperatures ranging from cryogenic up to approximately 5000C, depending on installation and operating conditions, and the desired service life:

  • in an inert atmosphere up to approximately 8000C (limits imposed by metal reinforcement)
  • in steam up to approximately 5000C
  • for applications in air at more than approximately 4000C, users should request our advice

Good resistance to chemicals

Absence of health hazard; asbestos-free

No aging or embrittlement, owing to absence of adhesives or binders

Excellent resistance to thermal shock

Compressed thickness as a function of gasket pressure
